Machining-line buffer study

A downstream inspection stop must not leave ambiguous work-in-progress inside the machining cell.

Fictional demonstration scenario. Customer type and region are illustrative; no actual customer, completed installation or measured improvement is represented.

Automotive production integrator

Mexico

Problem / production requirements

A downstream inspection stop must not leave ambiguous work-in-progress inside the machining cell.

Recommended approach

The proposed line interface assigns a unique part state to each buffer position. The machining cell accepts a new blank only when downstream capacity and inspection status permit transfer.

Technical considerations

During commissioning, simulate inspection downtime and interrupted communication. Operators need one documented procedure to reconcile part state before restarting.

Evaluation / acceptance criteria

The demonstration would pass only when every test part can be accounted for after stop and recovery. It is a control-interface study rather than a completed production-line reference.
